Washer
Dryer Pedestals
by
Jim Wilson
Washer Dryer Pedestals are the best and worst
addition to the laundry room. For years my
family would take our laundry to the local
laundry mat and do the family's wash for the
week. This as a kid, was a great play time, but
as we got older we realized how much of a hassle
it was to load up the laundry and take it the
laundry mat.
Fast forward to modern times, and let's bring up to
date, the new features for washer and dryers for
in home use. Now, finally we have the ability to have
front load washer and dryers that are very
similar to the laundry mats, because
manufacturers now offer washer dryer pedestals, which adds more convenience
and are more ergonomically correct. No more
stooping over and breaking your back doing the
laundry.
Washer dryer pedestals are
heaven sent. That would be a unanimous opinion
from everybody, were it not for the price that
manufacturers have placed on this great
inventions, the washer dryer pedestals. So, why are the washer dryer pedestals so expensive?
To understand why the washer dryer pedestals are
so expensive, you have to understand modern day
retail and how the manufacturers have bought
into the psychic of consumer spending. For
example, if you
introduce a new convenience and it is met with a
split opinion from the male and female genders,
yet it it appeals strongly to the females, and is
met with resistance from the males, who is
usually going to win out? Exactly, the women do
the laundry for the most part and the men are
only involved with the purchasing end of a
washer dryer, at best. So, in comes the high
priced washer dryer pedestals. There will
be much discussion at the appliance store over
this new invention.
After much discussion and hem-hawing
around, the men usually will buy in, to the
purchase of the washer dryer pedestals, unless
they opt to build the washer dryer pedestals
themselves, in order to offset their cost of purchasing manufacturer washer dryer
pedestals.
You can save yourself
considerable money if you build your own washer
dryer pedestals, but if you plan to incorporate
a working drawer in yours, then expect the cost
to be more and of course matching the colors
with your washer and dryer may be a challenge,
unless they are your basic cost saving white.
Custom color washer and dryers are another new
twist to consumer spending, so don't be
surprised if your wife wants the new candy apple
red washer dryer set, with matching pedestals
and chrome beauty rings on the doors.
Needless to say, this author opted to purchase
the matching color coordinating pedestals, with
the extended warranty to boot. And all is well
at our house.
