Greed has finally put us ALL in the Poorhouse

As we will soon have the decision to elect a new President of the United States, I have finally seen through the mud and the muck and have come to a conclusion that what we are clearly faced with is the sad truth that this country has finally succumb to GREED!

I’m mad as hell, and it’s time for a Financial Revolt!

We are now faced with congress deciding whether or not to sign a $700 Billion Dollar bailout or face a more certain further decline to our economy. What has come to be perfectly clear, is Wall Street and the fortune 500 CEO’s have brought this nation to it’s knees out of pure greed. The futures traders have used oil commodities as an ace in the hole, to flood their pockets out of fear and distress.

AIG’s CEO has been in place for less than 3 months and to buy out his contract today would exceed $22 million dollars. Washington Mutual’s CEO has been in place for a mere 3 weeks and to buy out his contract would exceed $18 million dollars. With these two companies, regardless of their failing business, we as Americans are facing the reality that these two humans are legally allowed to walk out with $40 million dollars for less than 3 months on the job.

At the same time millions of middle class Americans are losing their jobs, their homes, and paying 100% of their medical insurance out of pocket. A mere raise for deserved service has been banished from any consideration for years now. The only way to make more is to put more time in on your job, or find additional work to offset your expenses, in a world of limited jobs to obtain.

If we took the top fortune 500 companies and had our government step forward and enact a law that forbids any CEO buyouts, regardless of any negotiated contracts, and insist that companies participate in healthcare insurance to offset the cost of premiums passed on to their employees, we could already make a positive step in restoring our economy. Our next President could make it a part of his inaugural address that all U.S. car manufacturers must immediately begin producing all vehicles to get a minimum of 35 miles per gallon or they would not be allowed to be sold in the U.S. That is a doable solution and the technology exists.

But what we are continuing to do is allow companies to pay obnoxious salaries and bonuses to individuals on a corporate level while trimming the middle class workforce in order to pay a handful of CEO and top corporate people ridiculous salaries. Greed has finally done us all in, plain and simple.

Now, let me discuss this war in Iraq, we have a current President of the United States that has a background in the U.S. oil business and he’s faced with a defiant and ruthless dictator that denies any and all warnings to comply with international laws and our President makes a stand, that we as Americans agreed with, if only in part, and we eliminated Saddam Hussein from power and he is killed. That was a needed task and we should have come home. There is still no clear exit strategy and we’ve spent too much time there. This debate, that we should stay a little longer and see it through, is thinking with your western world minds.

No matter how long we stay is not the issue, it’s what will happen the day we leave? Iraq is a country that will not stand up to it’s own natural born enemies and eliminate them.

To further think this through, if there wasn’t any weapons of mass destruction in 2003, then we know they aren’t there now, so until someone brings them in after we leave, let them live in their own country that they can control, if they choose to. If not, we can and we will come again, but not on the ground, and put an end to what is the only way to stop this type of problem that they are not willing to fix themselves.

So, answer me this; if we went across the pond to rid a country of it’s dictator and we sacrificed thousands of our U.S. soldiers to accomplish this, why would an oil rich country not be willing to pay us back with their oil and fuel supplies? I think this was in the back of our President’s mind at some point, but yet that has never even been mentioned?

Meanwhile, back to deciding who should replace the current administration. We have one war hero and POW candidate that wants to stay in Iraq, and he also wants to fight a war by Canterbury Rules and not hurt or mistreat our prisoners, while the opposition beheads our people and displays them on Youtube? His wife wears a $300,000.00 outfit and he wants to talk about helping our economy? He owns so many homes, he can’t remember where he left his favorite pair of pants, and he wants to help us out of the housing market meltdown?

The other candidate is far less versed as a Senator, he only owns one house and he was born from an immigrant that sought out the best place on the earth to seek his fortune. This candidate has attended and graduated from some of the finest universities on earth, in the United States. He has had to disown his own church, in order to separate his personal beliefs, from those that are jealous of his accomplishments, and the country that allowed him to become a U.S. Senator, to fight for the less fortunate. He has overcome the prejudices of these United States to be allowed to run for the President of United States. He has his own closet of family issues that are beyond his own control, yet he continues to press for a better world, which he can influence. He can’t say that he has been in a Senate position so long that he knows all the good old boy rules of do’s and don’ts.

He believes that alternative fuel and energy sources are a top priority and can be addressed more quickly than his opponent. So, based on the have and have-nots, I for one would rather see a younger person with ongoing challenges and ideas be leading this country out of it’s own greedy grasp, instead of from those that drip of luxury and flaunt it as if they were a lifetime member of the CEO clubs in America. Bringing our troops home sooner verses later is also a key objective. The money we continue to throw at an unpopular war could be better spent at home by improving our homeland security and improved healthcare. That sounds good to me.

I have never been a ‘party’ limited voter and neither should you, but you should look at the initiatives and background of the candidate you choose. If you have any similarities with the person you vote for, you can expect to see a more common path to the solutions you hope the candidate will lead you.

I don’t usually get political in my posts, but I have had it with the GREED effect that has brought our great country to the depths of despair, please vote your heart and don’t let your prejudices stand in your line of clear vision.
